As a news consultant, Tammy works with news search engines gaining valuable insight into the news search pipeline and the issues that emerge at the intersection of technology and news. She has worked across the international dateline with a team of engineers to improve the authority and ranking of news results. Her specialties include news content strategy, news product development, strategies for informing AI and machine learning models, news publisher authority, national election coverage, media industry expertise, news trends -- and exploiting the best combination of human and artificial intelligence.

As a career journalist, Tammy spent nine years at washingtonpost.com, where she first explored the smashup of tech and news -- and how to explain editorial concepts to tech folks. Among other duties, she was a liaison between editorial and tech to seamlessly (if not effortlessly) stream some of the first live election results online. She served on the digital election team through three presidential elections, numerous midterms and special elections.

As an independent writer, she has written about her passions: living small, brain research, neurological studies, travel and sailing. Her writing and photography have appeared in the New York Times, Cruising World magazine and USAToday among others, including regular contributions to USA Today Travel.
